Sheet metal processing is the processing of sheet metal. Examples include chimneys, drums, fuel tanks and cans, ventilation ducts, elbows, reducers, round and square shapes, and funnels. Key processes include shearing, bending, flanging, forming, welding, and riveting, requiring certain geometric knowledge. Sheet metal is thin sheet metal hardware that can be processed through methods such as stamping, bending, and stretching. Generally defined, it refers to parts whose thickness remains constant during the manufacturing process. These are comparable to castings, forgings, and machined parts.
